The Davis College Democrats are proud to host the upcoming event Survivor of an Atomic Bomb: Takashi Tanemori. It will be held on March 10th, 2017 at 7 pm in Haring Hall 2205 on campus. Pre-sale tickets are $3 and tickets at the door will be $5. The event will begin with an address by Mr. Tanemori, followed by a question and answer session where he will take questions from the audience.
Mr. Tanemori was eight years old and 0.7 miles away from “ground zero” when Hiroshima burned on August 6, 1945. After losing his family and struggling to stay alive in postwar Japan, he immigrated to America even while harboring prejudice to American’s and an oath to avenge his father’s death.
Takashi Tanemori’s story of how he learned to reject his vow of revenge and instead devote himself to fostering forgiveness is an incredible message, and we believe that Mr. Tanemori’s wisdom should be shared throughout our community.
