Morgan Cunneen is a 4th year studying Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning and calls Vista, CA home. Her interest in politics was piqued during President Obama’s 2012
re-election campaign when her father brought her to an Organizing for America meeting. She followed politics throughout high school and during her freshman year at UC Davis joined the Davis College Democrats. As a Political Affairs Coordinator, Morgan worked on voter outreach for Congressman Ami Bera’s competitive re-election campaign in Elk Grove and Carmichael. After a time of limited involvement, Morgan is excited to be back and take on this leadership position. As Director of Political Affairs, she wants to organize lobbying training and events for membership, as well as advocate for specific bills in the state legislature.
The Director of Political Affairs shall:
Be the primary organizer and coordinator of student involvement in national, state, and local campaigns (phone banks, Get Out the Vote efforts, voter registration, etc.);
Build and maintain relationships with local elected officials by attending events in which they are present;
Research local, state, and national issues and report to the Executive Board and the general membership when the information is needed;
Coordinate lobbying efforts to the local and state government including, but not limited to: rallies, letter writing campaigns, testifying, petitions, etc.;
Collect and seek out internship opportunities for members and give to the Executive Director information to disburse to the club;
Organize and plan philanthropy events.
